07/26/2010 IDV bets retail sales will continue to go up
The Institute for Retail Development (IDV, in the Brazilian acronym), entity that gathers the top Brazilian retailers, forecasts retail sales will continue to go up in the third quarter of the year, reaching the highest figure in September (+6.5% year-on-year). According to the trade group, retail sales will go up 5.6% in July year-on-year, rising to 6.2% in August. There is a clear slowdown over the first quarter, when growth was close to two digits, due to a strong comparison basis and the end of government tax cuts on several product categories, as automobiles and electonics.
