Starbucks Brasil receives LEED certification

Starbucks Brasil receives its first LEED certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) in Latin America for the store located in Shopping Riosul, in Rio de Janeiro.

In order to meet the requirements, Starbucks has made some adjustments to the structure of the point of sale during its construction, such as installing faucet aerators, which allows the reduction of 30% in water consumption; CFC-free air conditioning; over 3¨5% optimization of power through the use of LED lamps and the use of materials purchased from local crafters, as well as encouraging its clients to use public transportation.

Since last year, all stores opened by the chain are required to have the LEED certification. Starbucks Brasil expects the other stores to also receive the sustainability stamp as one of the initiatives from the Starbucks Shared Planet.
